Meet the founders

JESSE DORSEY
CO-FOUNDER, CREATIVE DIRECTOR & CEO

Born in Montreal (Canada), Jesse honed his craft in various creative disciplines as a formally trained musician and skilled photographer.

While music and photography were his passions, modeling was his ticket to New York City in the early ‘90s.

Over the next decade, Jesse established himself as a musician, producer, and composer, collaborating on diverse creative projects ranging from touring, writing, and producing music for artists & bands such as Nancy Boy, The Beastie Boys, and Milla Jovovich, as well as composing musical scores for large-scale productions including Cirque du Soleil and award-winning feature films. Jesse also made a name for himself as a DJ in the vibrant NYC nightlife scene further immersing himself in these creative worlds that would later help propel BOYY to global success.

In 2004, Jesse met his partner, Wannasiri Kongman, soon after she arrived in NYC. Enamored by Wannasiri and her profound passion for luxury bags, her prolific knowledge and discerning eye sparked a new form of creative expression for Jesse. Similar to the way he channeled his ideas through music to compose multimedia auditory experiences for audiences; designing bags presented an intriguing way to transmit his ideas into physical form—evoking a similar energetic yet tactile connection with the wearer. Inspired by this newfound creative outlet, the couple created their first bag in Jesse’s apartment, where his kitchen would later serve as the brand’s first showroom. As BOYY matures and ventures into new territories, both conceptually and geographically, Jesse’s role behind the scenes has expanded along with it. Forever a composer, he continues to orchestrate all elements of BOYY in pursuit of a unifying harmony among the brand’s multifaceted endeavors.

WANNASIRI KONGMAN
CO-FOUNDER & CREATIVE DIRECTOR

Wannasiri Kongman is the Co-founder & Creative Director of BOYY. As the inspiration and main muse behind the multidisciplinary brand, the name is derived from Wannasiri’s nickname, “boy”, with an added "YY" symbolizing the joint effort of two creative minds. Originating from her obsessive passion for luxury bags and daring sense of style, BOYY’s distinctive designs quickly attracted the attention—and desire—of fashion’s most influential tastemakers. Together with her husband & partner, Jesse Dorsey, the duo is responsible for the design and overall direction for the brand’s growing portfolio of creative endeavors.

Born in Bangkok (Thailand), Wannasiri was heavily influenced by western pop culture and fashion throughout her childhood and teenage years.

With a love for creative writing and poetry, Wannasiri studied Journalism before moving to Washington, DC where she made frequent visits to New York City. Captivated by the city’s magnetic energy, she relocated to NYC in 2003.

Soon after meeting Jesse in 2004, her prolific knowledge of luxury bags inspired the couple to create their first bag with materials purchased in New York’s garment district. As they developed their second collection, Wannasiri’s disappointment with the pristine and unblemished leather led the couple to spend days in Jesse’s apartment distressing it to perfection. This early juxtaposition of uncompromising quality with a rebellious spirit, became a defining value of the brand’s ethos that still endures today. Wannasiri returned to Bangkok in 2005, and the couple continued to build their fledgling brand with Jesse remaining in NYC. BOYY’s increasing popularity among international celebrities and the first-wave of fashion influencers caught the attention of Thai media and luxury consumers, elevating Wannasiri to become one of the most recognizable names in Thai fashion and making BOYY arguably the first global luxury brand operating out of Thailand.
